Sunday 11/14/2004 - TommyTuna’s Fish Report From Hermosa Beach

November 15th, 2004 by TommyTuna | 1 Comment | Filed in Fishing Tales, General

Hey fishing enthusiasts!

We had a good time at Hermosa Beach, the waves were big and plenty of surfers.

Water was dirty but the fish were bitting, naturally I was hot stick again, 1 corvina 4 barred perch, (released 2 barred perch).

There are some nice fish there as BUDDY hook up and it pull out drag… and then it was a fish story it spit the hook.

Ron was doing okay swinging on the barred perch and giving them whip lash.

All in all it was a great morning, lots of early riser on the Strand.

Next week should be as good as this week.

See you later…

Perch Derby

November 8th, 2004 by TommyTuna | No Comments | Filed in Fishing Tales, General

The Hanapa’a Fishing Club had a perch derby a few weeks ago at San Onfre State Beach.

I finally made it out fishing and won first place with the largest Perch and got the jackpot.

There were large spot fin croakers which won the others jackpots but it was a perch derby. A friend of mine Ron got second place with a nice Perch.

Well I guess I got my bragging rights back…

I miss fishing…

It was a in coming tide and TommyTuna was hot stick this morning as he caught a leopard sharks, Shovel nose Sharks, brown back Shark?, Bat Ray, Barred Perch, 5 nice Corbina’s up to 3.5lbs.

The hot bait today was Ghost Shrimp and blood worms.

Ron had a 5lbs plus corbina that he fought for a good 5 minutes, but it’s a fish story because it spit the hook in 3″(inches) of water. I saw the TAIL and it was a good 7″(inches) wide and all of 24″ (inches) long.

Now we have POOR Buddy, he got SKUNKED today. He couldn’t find a soft shell sand crab to save his life, the plastics didn’t even get a smell.

It was a great morning bite…..
